Day 31: Boss Hoss!!!

Okay, maybe it's not the best composition in the world, but it is SOOOOOO freakin' cool...and it's purple!

Day 30: WTF?!

This is one of the pillars in the parking garage at work. I noticed this sign there a few months back. It's kind of troubling. I mean, we actually have a riot area?

Bonus: CAKE!!!

Yesterday was our boss's birthday. Today we brought him a cake, complete with blowup doll key chain. She actually has an air valve on her back! He got a kick out of that.

Day 29: Feets

Some of y'all have posted pictures of your feet. This is a quick shot of mine. I love being barefoot, and I love bluejeans. I guess you could say this is my favorite outfit from the knees down anyway.

I didn't do any special processing or anything. Just a blue picture frame, which I think is really cool.

Day 28: Oops again. I sat down after work and fell asleep again. By the time I woke up, it was too late to try to get anything to post.

Day 27: Always & Forever

Today's picture is inspired by BoC's Day25 post.

We got new wedding bands earlier this year. This is mine. People keep commenting that it looks a little like the Lord of the Rings ring. It says 'Always and Forever' (his band is plain with the inscription on the inside). I used the top of my laptop for the background.

BoC, your shot is so much better. Thanks for the inspiration, though.

Day 26: Fat Cat

We were over at my parents this afternoon and I took this with my cell phone. This is Pooka my parents' cat. He is 20 pounds of laziness. I think he looks even bigger than that laying on the arm of the couch like this.

Day 25: Oops!

Oops! I have been having some issues with my back. I wasn't feeling the best yesterday. When I got home from work, I sat down and promptly fell asleep. Anyway, I didn't get a picture made to post last night. This is one that I took several days ago for the challenge and didn't use. The church down the street built this little park recently. It always looks so peaceful even though the highway is right behind it.

Day 24: Another Sunset

What can I say? I love the sky here.

Day 23: Ice Wreath

This is a wreath that I have hanging beside the front door. It's supposed to look like ice crystals. I originally bought it for a Christmas decoration, but I liked the way that the sun reflected off of it. So I left it up.

Day 22: Windmill

This is the windmill that's in my parents' yard. It was a quick nighttime shot. It's late. I did a couple small adjustments to it and added a time machine effect (box camera with photo edge).

Day 21: Mesquites

These trees grow like weeds around here.

Day 20: Candles

I was playing with fire again this evening.

Day19: Evergreen

The neighbor's tree...It's definitely not native to this area.

Day 18: Bird Bath

This is a little wrought iron bird bath in our yard. The trunk of my "half dead" tree is the background.

Thursday, July 17, 2008

Day 17: Sisters

My daughters ages 9 and 15. They pretend not to like each other, but I know otherwise. I always wished that I had a sister...lucky girls...

Day 16: Through the Fence

I was looking around the yard today and I found this hole in the fence. I took this from the neighbor's side. I spy with my little eye...my bedroom window!

Day 15: Blue

I put a spoiler in my post on the 30 Day Photo thread here.

Day 14: Sunset

The sun is almost gone for today. I love the great big Texas sky. I wish that we didn't live so close to the highway. I like the little bit of earth at the bottom, but I wish the bits of highway weren't there. On this one, the only adjustments I made to it was resizing and the border.

Day 13: Bubble Gum

My oldest daughter made this in her wood working class at school last year. You turn the arms and the gumball comes out of her mouth. It kinda reminds me of a witch. Yeah, that's it, a gumball witch.

Day 12: Half Dead

The tree in our front yard is old. One side of it is alive . The other side is completely dead. I want to eventually have ivy growing all over it.

Day 11: Cats

I couldn't sit down when I got home today. 3 of our 4 cats had taken possession of my seat and wouldn't move.

Misty is the one in the front. You can just barely see the stump where her tail should be. That's all she's got. She is the boss. She's the oldest and we've had her the longest. I'm the only person in the house she seems to like. She only tolerates the rest of the family. She has only recently decided that the other cats are ok to be around.

The grey cat is Ria. She usually is off by herself. She is shy and only socializes on her terms. This picture is a rare moment for her. The black cat in this picture is one of her kittens.

Onyx is the black cat. He is shy like his mama and usually keeps to himself. He is very highstrung and startles easily (and to the extreme).

Day 10: Honeycomb

LOL! It's the grill of my car!

Day 9: Candlelight Reflected

Something a little bit for me different today. The candle is reflected in the mirror behind and the in the wood below.

Day 8: Storm Brewing

A storm has been trying to move in this evening. I had three drops fall on me while I was outside. I don't think we're going to be lucky enough to get any rain this time either. We really need it.

Raised Floor...pic from wikipedia...

Capriccio asked about the holes in the tile in my post for today. Full view shows the holes at pretty much actual size. The floor is white with grey swirls.

I found this picture on wikipedia showing how the floor is made. Wires for the network and the electrical (we have massive amounts of wire) run under the floor. The air conditioning blows under as well so every few tiles have holes.

We keep a tile puller handy for easy access. The air holes are small enough it's hard to drop anything in them, but the holes that are cut out for the wires to come up through are another story.

Day 7: Dots

Today's image is from work. I work in a data center with a raised floor. The air conditioning blows under the floor and come up through holes in tiles like this one. I never really looked at them before. This photo challenge has made me start looking at everyday things differently. I'm having so much fun.

Edit: I just noticed...If you view full and scroll, there is a cool optical illusion kind of effect going on.

Day 6: To Ft Worth

Coming home from Wal-Mart the other night, this sign grabbed my attention. So, today I walked back to it. This is what I got.

Day 5: Books

Today was a lazy day. I couldn't think of anything exciting to shoot, so I'm leaving some books for everyone instead. Enjoy.

Day 4: Fireworks

I'm a little late posting. (It's 01:53 a.m) We went to the drive-in movie tonight and just got home. It's really pretty on the 4th of July. You get two shows, the double feature and lots of pretty fireworks. Since fireworks are prohibited inside of the city limits, all the fireworks we saw tonight were illegal. Actually, someone managed to set a grass fire right outside of the drive-in so we also saw lots of smoke and a couple fire trucks.

Considering I don't have a fancy camera, I'm really happy with this shot.

Day 3: Motorcycles

The 3rd Annual Party on the Patio has begun at the local Harley dealership. Every Thursday for 6 weeks they will have a different live band. Y'all bring your lawn chairs and your favorite beverage and join the fun!

I took a few pictures tonight and this was my favorite.

Day 2: The Field

This field is next to the church which is down the street from our house. The interstate is just beyond the trees.

Day 1: The Window

I don't know. For whatever reason, the light coming through the blinds caught my attention. I really like the result though.
